The ENT specializes in neck lumps and masses

A neck mass can be very distressing to the person that suffers from it.
Masses or lumps in the neck can be due to infections, inflammation of the salivary glands, benign tumors, thyroid tumors or even head and neck cancer.
Otolaryngologists-Head and Neck Surgeons are the experts for the evaluation of neck masses. Evaluation includes history, head and neck examination, and an endoscopic examination with a camera of the upper airway and digestive tract. The surgeon can also refer you for further testing such as : blood tests, imaging (ultrasound, CT scan, MRI), fine-needle biopsy, large core-needle biopsy.
Depending on the cause, multiple treatments are possible that can vary from medications to surgery. Certain cancers are treated with radiation and/or chemotherapy.
